The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 When Shuaib said to all of them, “Do you not fear?” 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
