Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
