The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He looked (at others); 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
