The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
