The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
