۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
