The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
