In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
