And when your Lord called out to Musa, saying: Go to the unjust people, 10 The people of Fir'awn; fear they Me not? 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
