And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or have you, perchance, a clear evidence [for your assertions]? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And surely they used to say: 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. 182
