Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
