The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
