The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
