(Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister; 35 then We said to them, "Go to the people who have treated Our Revelations as false. " So We annihilated those people utterly. 36 And Nuh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc). 37 (As for) 'Ad, Thamud and the people of ar-Rass, and many generations in between them, 38 for each We struck similitudes, and each We ruined utterly. 39 And indeed they have visited the township upon which had rained a harmful rain; so were they not seeing it? In fact, they never expected to be raised again. 40 And when they see thee, they take thee in mockery only: 'What, is this he whom God sent forth as a Messenger? 41 Indeed, he would well-nigh have led us astray from our deities, had we not been [so] steadfastly attached to them!" But in time, when they see the suffering [that awaits them,] they will come to know who it was that went farthest astray from the path [of truth]! 42 Have you seen him who takes his low desires for his god? Will you then be a protector over him? 43 Do you think that most of them listen and understand? They are like cattle or even more, straying and confused. 44
