The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
