The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
