Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
