Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
