The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
