The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
