Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Dawn 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." 15 whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, “Alas – if only I had sent some good deeds ahead, during my lifetime!” 24 So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 'O soul at peace, 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 Enter then My garden." 30
