So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
