The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those who set the ranks in battle order 1 by those who drive away the devil (to protect Our revelation), 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Verily your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, 6 and have protected it from every rebellious satan. 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly, and they are darted at from every side. 8 With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual; 9 except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. 11 No wonder you are surprised as they laugh with scorn. 12 And when they are reminded, they mind not, 13 And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, 14 And say: "This is only magic. 15 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 Say thou: and verily ye; shall then be despicable. 18 for that [resurrection which they deride] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry - and then, lo! they will begin to see [the truth] 19 and they say, 'Woe, alas for us! This is the Day of Doom.' 20 (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!" 21
