The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
