The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
