[Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 And those who believe in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, 58 and who do not ascribe divinity to aught but their Sustainer, 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 These are hastening on to good, and they are therein foremost. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 Do not cry out for help this day, for surely you shall not be helped by Us. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 in arrogance, as if you were abandoning a story-teller. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 Had the truth followed their caprices, the heavens and the earth and whosoever in them is had surely corrupted. Nay, We brought them their Remembrance, but from their Remembrance they turned. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
