a large group of the earlier people 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
