In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
