The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
