The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
