Think not God is oblivious of the deeds of the wicked. He has only allowed them respite till the Day on which all eyes would stare aghast, 42 Hastening forward, their heads upraised, their eyes not reverting to them and their hearts vacant. 43 And warn people of the day when the chastisement shall come to them, then those who were unjust will say: O our Lord! respite us to a near term, (so) we shall respond to Thy call and follow the apostles. What! did you not swear before (that) there will be no passing away for you! 44 "And you dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We had dealt with them. And We put forth (many) parables for you." 45 And [this retribution will befall all evildoers because] they devise that false imagery of theirs - and all their false imagery is within God's knowledge. [And never can the blasphemers prevail against the truth - not] even if their false imagery were so [well devised and so powerful] that mountains could be moved thereby. 46 Never think that Allah would fail his messengers in His promise: for Allah is Exalted in power, - the Lord of Retribution. 47 [His promise will be fulfilled] on the Day when the earth shall be changed into another earth, as shall be the heavens and when [all men] shall appear before God, the One who holds absolute sway over all that exists. 48 And thou wilt see the sinners that day bound together in fetters;- 49 with garments of pitch and faces covered by fire. 50 That Allah may repay each soul what it hath earned. Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning. 51 This is a message for mankind that they may take a warning from it, and may know that He is the one and only God, and that men of wisdom may reflect. 52
