Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
