And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 and they bar them from the way, and they think they are guided, 37 To the extent that when the disbeliever will be brought to Us, he will say to his devil, “Alas – if only there was the distance* of east and west, between you and me!” – so what an evil companion** he is! (* Had I not listened to you. **They will be bound together in chains.) 38 (He will then be told): “Today it will not benefit you the least that after your wrong-doing you and your satans now share the chastisement.” 39 (Muhammad), can you make the deaf hear or guide the blind or the one who is clearly in error? 40 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them, 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 So, hold fast to the Book that has been revealed to you, you are surely on the right path, 43 The Quran is a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be questioned about it. 44 Ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We have ever made gods, other than the Merciful, to be worshipped. 45
