The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
