The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 arise, and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
