The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 The closing night, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
