Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
