He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
