The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And rejects the best, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
