And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 "And when you both come to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
