The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
