'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 gardens, and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
