The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
