He it is who has made the earth easy to live upon: go about, then, in all its regions, and partake the sustenance which He provides: but [always bear in mind that] unto Him you shall be resurrected. 15 Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway? 16 Or have you become so unafraid that He who is in Heaven will not send a violent wind to shower stones at you? Then you will know the import of My commination! 17 And indeed, [many of] those who lived aforetime did give the lie [to My warnings]: and how awesome was My rejection [of them]! 18 Have they not regarded the birds above them spreading their wings, and closing them? Naught holds them but the All-merciful. Surely He sees everything. 19 Who is there to defend you like an army, besides the Lord of Mercy? Those who deny the truth are in deception. 20 Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion. 21 Can one who walks with his head hanging down be better guided that one who walks with his head upright? 22 (Muhammad), say, "It is God who has brought you into being and made ears, eyes, and hearts for you, but you give very little thanks". 23 Say: "It is He who has multiplied you on earth; and it is unto Him that you shall be gathered [on resurrection]." 24 And they say, “When will this promise come, if you are truthful?” 25 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "Knowledge thereof rests with God alone; and I am only a plain warner." 26 But when they see it nigh, the faces of those who disbelieve will be awry, and it will be said (unto them): This is that for which ye used to call. 27 Say: 'What think you? If God destroys me and those with me, or has mercy on us, then who will protect the unbelievers from a painful chastisement?' 28 Say: He is the Beneficent. In Him we believe and in Him we put our trust. And ye will soon know who it is that is in error manifest. 29 Say: Have ye thought: If (all) your water were to disappear into the earth, who then could bring you gushing water? 30
