Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
