The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
