The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
