The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
