The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
