The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
